Holiday Cheer from Griffin Properties | Retirement Community Tree Decorating. Griffin Properties http://www.griffinproperties.net The halls have to be decked. The holly has to be boughed. The yule tide carol has to be trolled. The Christmas spirit has to be spread throughout the land. It's a good thing that the Americorps team from the Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids is full of holiday cheer. The Red Cross volunteers, together with those from Griffin Properties of Keller Williams, brought extra Christmas joy to the residents at Heather Hills Retirement Care Center. The center, located at 1157 Medical Park Drive SE in Grand Rapids, is a care center for senior citizens that host a variety of fun, engaging events for residents. This annual tree lighting and decorating is no exception. On Tuesday, November 30 the care center got an extra boost of Christmas cheer and energy from the Red Cross and Griffin Properties volunteers. With over thirty trees to decorate, there was much work to be done. Some of the trees are larger-than-life and take ladders to reach the very top. Some of the trees more closely resemble that of Charlie Brown's liking. In years past, the volunteers have even donned elf costumes to complete the work while listening to holiday music. Staff and residents alike joined in on the fun by assisting the volunteers throughout the day. Be assured, throughout the building, there was shouts of good tidings and Christmas merriment. This project is another installment in the year long Heart Work is Hard Work project series. If you would like to get involved in this project, or projects like this, please email Elizabeth Wright at ewright@ggr.redcross.org or call (616) 456-8661 ext. 3501 for more information. If nothing else, spread a little bit of your own Christmas cheer by mailing an extra card, shoveling a neighbor's front steps, or buying a gift for someone who needs it the most. After all, heart work is hard work. http://www.griffinproeprties.net
